Vocational Training

KMP is contracted by arrangement of the Sheffield City Council CYPD as a provider for the delivery of vocational training to 14-16 year olds. 

The broad aim of the provision commissioned by the CYPD is to contribute to the following:

  • To improve achievement, attendance and progress of 14-16 year old learners.
  • To establish clearly defined progression routes for young people.
  • To work in partnership with schools and Connexions to achieve the above.
  • To develop programmes that meet the needs of the re-engagement client group, particularly with reference to skills and vocational training.
  • To give learners the opportunity to work towards and achieve vocational qualifications.

KMP gives each learner the opportunity to learn new multimedia skills, develop confidence and gain ASDAN qualifications in Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (COPE) Level 1.

 

In addition learners can also gain Key Skills qualifications in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Level 1-2.

 

These qualifications are equivalent to GCSE grades C or D and are accepted as college entry.  Learners also have the opportunity to work on our web portal and termly newsletter making news and feature articles.

 

All referrals to the provision should be made through the Extended Curriculum Team within Access and Inclusion.


E2E Multimedia Training Course 

Join our E2E course for 16-18 years old, 3 days a week for 22 weeks.You can learn: 

  • Creative I.T. skills
  • Digital photography
  • Film-making
  • Animation
  • Website design
  • Print and design

Trainees contribute work to our website (http://www.kmp.org.uk) and newsletters making news and feature articles using video and photography. 

The course will develop your basic and key skills and build your confidence. You will work towards a Level 1/2 ASDAN COPE (Certificate of Personal Effectiveness).

There may also be work experience opportunities and our team will give you full support with moving on into college or a job.

Whilst on the course, you may be eligible for EMA training allowance of up to £30 a week, plus all travel expenses will be paid.

Web Design Courses

Our Web Design courses are for everyone involved or interested in creating personal or commercial web sites - whether novice or expert.

This course teaches you how to get to grips with Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 and MX 2004, Adobe Photoshop CS2 and its functionality and potentials.

You also get the opportunity to work on your own material and at the end of the course you will finish with a commercially useable and search engine friendly web site.

Course Delivery

This course will be delivered through hands-on exercises with practical workshops conducted as part of/follow up to the theory classes. 

Duration

4 weeks (2 hours per week)

 

What you will learn

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Identify HTML concepts.
  • Create page structures with tables and frames.
  • Identify the uses of metadata tags and keywords.
  • Identify how to use CSS for designing a web site.
  • Create stunning and optimized web graphics.
  • Identify how to format web pages, use style sheets, web forms, set up hyperlinks, change background colours and use DHTML effects.
  • Identify how to apply the various Dreamweaver features that are used for effective site development.
  • Be able to produce standards-compliant website designs and optimise your sites on the search engines rankings.
