October 2008 update.

edited by RossMerryweather on Tue 28th Oct 3pm

We have now been in our new premises at the Edmund Road Business Centre for just over a year. Since we have been here we have been successful in becoming an ASDAN accredited centre, which means that our students can take ASDAN qualifications online at KMP and receive and an immediate result.

Sheffield City Council have just confirmed that KMP have been successful with both of their tenders for Future:proof contracts. The two projects that we will be delivering are:

IMAGE (Innovative Media Animation Graphics & Education) Factory. Enrolling students from October 2008.

SCREAM (Sound Creation, Recording, Editing & Music Technology).

You can find more detailed information regarding these programmes on our "Training" page. To be eligible for either of these programmes students need to be aged between 16-18, NEET (not currently in employment, education or training).

Alongside these new programmes we continue to deliver to 14-16 year old students on the Vocational Skills Programme. The number of students that we cater for has been increased and we currently have a waiting list in place.

We also run a Support Fund project for students wishing to attend KMP on a more flexible basis in order to complete Basic Skills qualifications in LIteracy and/or Numeracy.

KMP also have a commitment to the process of Continuous Organisation Improvement and have been working with PQASSO (Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations) since June 08; we are on target to be fully met in all twelve areas by December 08. PQASSO is a straightforward, user-friendly quality assurance system intended to help organisations take a systematic look at what we do, identifying areas where we are doing well and not so well, and decide exactly where improvements are needed. It helps us to plan, budget and allocate the resources for making these improvements over a realistic time period.

Since we were flooded out of our premises in 2007, the commitment of staff, trustees, members and learners to keep KMP fully operational, has been a testament to the loyalty of all involved with KMP. Thankyou to everyone for your continued support.
