June 2010

edited by RossMerryweather on Tue 8th Jun 1pm

Summer now seems to be upon us and our VSP year 11 learners are busy taking their Basic Skills tests and finishing off work for their Expressive Arts Award and Wider Key Skills, prior to leaving us at the end of June. We wish them all the best of luck and want to say well done for all their hard work this year.

Our new Future:proof Music Project is going well; we have purchased some new equipment and our numbers are starting to grow. Our Future:proof Media Programme too, continues to go from strength to strength.

We are pleased to confirm that we have another year of Integrated Support Funding which means we can run various different and flexible programmes. This money also goes towards running a programme for Year 9’s direct from the school.

We have recently been the lucky recipient of some ‘cutting edge’ technology equipment, due to the Sheffield College and Sheffield City Council LDD Pathfinder technology funding, and for this we are very grateful and look forward to implementing them into our programmes.

We still have places on our UK Online programme (basic training in computers and the internet for older people). This programme continues to be FREE for learners but is due to conclude on the 31 July 2010.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Volunteer Support Assistants who have been absolutely brilliant – we really appreciate your time, energy and commitment – many, many thanks. If you would like further information on any of the above courses or feel you would like to join us as a Volunteer Support Assistant or on the Board of Trustees, please contact Heather or Ross who will give you more information.
